Join us on Friday, February 9th at 7 PM at LHS's Boswell Auditorium for the Lebanon vs. Central games. We'll celebrate the grand opening of the history museum as well as the Lebanon Area Sports Hall of Fame Induction.
The museum is located in the north hallway of the Boswell Auditorium. The LHS Alumni Association was formed in 2021 to celebrate 150 years of Lebanon Public Schools and preserve its history. The LHS History Museum will help keep the history of LHS alive by showcasing artifacts from the old buildings and items donated by LHS Alumni and their families.
A special thank you to the Class of 1962. They purchased the two initial display cases. Cecilia King and Abby Allen, LHS Leadership Class members, gathered artifacts that had been salvaged from the original schools along with donated items to create the first displays in the museum.
Memorial contributions made in memory of LHS Class of 1962 Alumni Jim Bohannon and Bonnie Holman Hudson provided funding for a Moments in Time addition to the museum to commemorate significant events in the life of LHS over time. The first Moments in Time displays created by Eddie Smith feature:
• LHS Band performance at the Nixon Inaugural Parade
• Opening of the Field House in 1957
• Prom 1962
• Jim Bohannon, Class of 1962, nationally known syndicated radio show host
• 150th Anniversary Celebration of Lebanon Public Schools
• Vern’s Malt Shop, popular student hangout for many years.
The Moments in Time displays will be rotated periodically.
We can't wait to celebrate these moments in time with you at the museum grand opening on February 9th at LHS.
