Jude's Open Mic Night is a time where local folks can share their talent!
It's free to perform and free to attend! Our December Night is all about Christmas! So if you are performing music, spoken word or poetry remember the theme for this holiday evening!
Rule's below.
Open mic night applications are accepted until a week before the performance date. We will then review all applications and announce the lineup for the evening. If you are not selected to perform then we invite you to apply again! We try to feature a range of performance types and genres. Our goal for Open Mic is to provide an outlet for musicians and creatives within our local community to come together and share their talents. We encourage all levels of performers, from novice to expert, to sharpen their skills in front of an audience.
1. Currently performance types are limited to music and spoken word (poetry, comedy, storytelling, etc)
2. This is a family event and we ask that performances are free of profanity, sexual vulgarity, political bias and other potentially sensitive or controversial topics or content. Please note you will be unplugged if you cannot abide by these guidelines.
3. Costumes and props should be kept very minimal. Performances should be focused on spotlighting the talent, not the showmanship.
4. Performances begin at 6:00p sharp.
5. Each time slot is up to 8 minutes of performance time or 2 songs, that DOES NOT include your setup time, but we do ask that you be able to set up quickly.
6. Each act may only sign up for 1 time slot (If there are multiple people in your act then you may not sign up for a slot for each person). One person may play in multiple acts, but they need to be different acts. The exact same act may not have multiple slots.
7. We will provide some equipment (A stool, music stand, speaker, 1 mic, 2 inputs, 1 keyboard). To make sure what you need is on hand, please detail your tech needs in the appropriate place on this form. Musicians are welcome to bring their own instrument, but we do only have 2 inputs available, so larger acts with multiple instruments will need to play acoustically.
8. When you are next, be ready. Instruments or other materials out, ready to take the stage.
9. Perform material you are comfortable with. We don’t expect perfection, but it's always best to be as prepared as you can be. Original content is preferred, but readings and performance of others' work is acceptable if you put your own spin on it.
10. NEW- If you are performing cover songs, please check that your choices are registered with BMI or Public Domain (all songs written before 1923 are Public Domain). Check here-
https://repertoire.bmi.com/. We are having to be careful to make sure all performance pieces are covered legally.
11. Back Tracks: We ask that musicians not use back tracks unless they are original works created by the artist. Sing cover songs to a back track (karaoke style) is not ideal.
12. BE CONSIDERATE OF THE OTHER PERFORMERS. Please be quiet and show respect for the performers on stage. Do not play instruments while performers are on stage. Applaud for everyone.
13. Please stay for the performers after your time slot. They enjoyed your set, stay and enjoy theirs as well.
